Bidding Decisions
The Bidding Decisions
portion of Lead Captain has two modes of operation -
Easy Mode and Tech Mode.
Here's an example of the
type of problem that can be solved in Easy Mode. With
standard bidding methods, assume the bidding has gone 1♣(by partner)-1♠(reswponse
by you)-2♠. Holding
the following hand should you invite or not?
Partner probably has 4
spades, at least a few clubs, and 12-16 Total Points
(points in support of spades). Despite having a minimal
hand, Lead Captain says South should invite game, but
only when vulnerable. By inviting game, as oppose to
passing 2♠, you can
expect to win 0.11 IMPs per board. When not vulnerable,
you can expect to lose 0.44 IMPs per board. Of course
these are double-dummy results and you might get a
friendly lead at the table.
